How to create more energy in your home

The way we live releases energy into our homes, which affects our physical health, emotions and our experiences. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice about the balance of energies and focuses on the arrangement of your home to bring in positive energy and create a home that enriches your life. Here are 8 ways to boost the positive energy in your home.

1. Clear the front passage

Energy flows through the front door and an open pathway allows positive energy to flow straight through your home. A hard to read house number or blocked entryway prevents energy from entering, so make sure your front entryway is visible and accessible to receive blessings.

2. De clutter your home

In Feng Shui, a cluttered house equates to a cluttered mind. Make sure your house is tidy and well organised in order to bring more positive energy in. Anything unused or broken should be thrown away as it can fester negative energy, so work out what’s essential and get rid of things that may weigh your home down.

3. A sense of balance

Feng Shui is all about the structure of the five elements: wood, earth, metal, fire and water and how they interact with each other. Having something representing these five elements in every room is said to keep you grounded and balanced in your life and environment. The easiest way to do this? Incorporate the colours that symbolize each element into your home; black = water, green = wood, red = fire, yellow, tan and brown = earth and white= metal.

4. Add nature and light wherever possible

Opening windows, letting fresh air into your home and moving plants indoors has a huge influence on energy. Darkness can cause feelings of depression so fill your home with as much natural light as possible and create a space of peace and tranquillity.

5. Make your bedroom your palace

The bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the home as it’s where we go to unwind at the end of a busy day. It’s our escape from the outside world, so create a space that will relax you by adding candles and scents and in turn you’ll get a better nights sleep and have increased energy in the morning!

6. Furniture Feng Shui style

The main key with furniture and Feng Shui is to make sure it does not restrict free passage through your home. Choose pieces you love and avoid overcrowding accessories and furniture so that energy has room to flow.

7. It’s all about the smell

Scents and aromas around your home provoke positive memories and create a warm and inviting space, and they also clear negative energy. Add water and a few drops of oil into a spritzer bottle and spray throughout your home. Be sure to spray some on your bed for a good nights sleep!

 8. Watch your words

Being aware of the words you speak also plays a role in the energy attracted to your home. Your home should be treated with love and respect and speaking words of love and compassion will clear the air and have a positive impact on you and your family.
